As mankind traverses through life, an individual gradually leaves small fractions of the self behind. Along the way, remnants of memories impress subconscious footprints, creating a trail of sentimental recollections.

In “A Day Before Us,” visual artist, Nicole Soltes, explores the labyrinth of life and time, revealing what has been abandoned, repressed, and remained, throughout the intricacy of humanity’s existence. Soltes uses objects from childhood games juxtaposed with deep blue waters – both contained and free-flowing. Her waters evoke the nature of life as momentary and transcendental, hinged on time’s accord. The artist’s minimal approach to her subjects seemingly immortalizes significant moments across the spectrum of one’s lifetime.

Soltes and her artworks urge the viewer to swim in nostalgia and reflect on the past, present, and future. With each chapter in life, one contemplates and reveals core memories that echo during days before us and even beyond.
