As time moves forward relative to mankind’s existence, the spirit still continues to look back and recalls momentous occurrences that satisfied a full childhood, a realm that sheltered the tenderness and innocence of an individual’s haven.

In her first solo exhibition entitled “Sanctuary,” Cruz explores the narratives of amusing characters in a surreal world that merges delight, whim, and serenity. As the viewer strolls around her imagined universe of charming subjects of animals and humans, one embraces the calm harmony among dialogues of youthful experiences shared by society, unhinging nostalgic and spirited journeys of discovering personal growth, and realizing past and current desires. The artist meticulously utilizes hatching and pointillism with a monochrome palette to complement impulses of sentimental fulfillment.

Cruz and her artworks encourage a moment of introspection and reminisce through childhood dreams and aspirations, those of which cradle the mind and soul to take refuge in personal sanctuary.
