Traipsing through the realities and fantasies of life has encouraged the accumulation of a multitude of memories, most thoughts being amalgamations of actual occurrences and imaginary yearnings. For visual artist, Denmark Maribojoc, among all of these, one creates the deepest imprint.
In his first solo exhibition entitled “Tracing Remnants,” Denmark explores the ability of an individual to sift through a myriad of sensations and magnify the most significant and impactful. The artist acknowledges that such magnitude does not only come from considerable size or strength but may also derive from simple and modest objects. He depicts this relationship through his female subjects paired with single items by the side, the two being in quiet dialogue, the subject understanding the manifestation of a core memory.
Denmark and his artworks prompt the viewer to reminisce, appreciate a spectrum of artifacts, from minuscule to cosmic proportions, and discover transformative impressions by gathering and tracing remnants.
